‘We Cannot Allow’ Socialism to Spread Across America: Eric Trump [WATCH]
Eric Trump called New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani “crazy” and warned that conservatives “cannot allow” socialist policies like his to spread across the United States during a Turning Point USA event Wednesday evening, as reported by The New York Post.
Speaking alongside his wife, Lara Trump, and conservative commentator Benny Johnson at Auburn University, Eric addressed a packed audience and reflected on the results of recent elections, which saw a wave of Democratic wins across the country. The Trumps used the event to condemn what they described as the moral decay of the political left, with Eric labeling the movement “Godless” and “evil.” They also addressed the death of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, whose absence loomed large throughout the event.
Mamdani’s name entered the discussion when an audience member asked the Trumps about his landslide victory over former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Eric Trump immediately criticized Mamdani’s campaign promises, calling them unrealistic but politically effective in a deeply liberal city.
“This is going to destroy a great American city, and we cannot allow this to spread across this country,” Eric said, drawing loud applause from the audience.
Lara Trump followed with a warning that Mamdani’s rise as “the new face of the Democrat Party” would not end well for the country—or even for those who support him.
“We can never allow this to happen ever again in the United States,” she said.
Lara also used her remarks to rally young conservatives, emphasizing the importance of grassroots engagement ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
“We’re also a year out from midterms. And I want to say this right now, we cannot leave anything to chance,” she said. “If you take nothing away from yesterday, these elections in blue areas in New York City, in Virginia, and in New Jersey, the fight is not over, and it takes all of us in here to do that.”
Before the Trumps took the stage, Benny Johnson also criticized leftist victories across the country, calling the winning candidates “Communists.”
“They are anti-life,” he said. “There is a literal Communist elected as New York City mayor.”
At one point during the event, Eric Trump called his father, President Donald Trump, who thanked Alabama supporters for helping secure his second term in office.
“We love [Alabama], and I just want to pay my respects to Charlie and Erika,” the President said. “I love you all, as president of the United States, I love you all, and we’re doing great.”
President Trump had previously called Mamdani a “little Communist” following the New York City election results but did not mention the race directly during his remarks.
In his Election Night victory speech, Mamdani addressed President Trump directly, saying, “Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, I have four words for you: Turn the volume up. If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him.”
