DHS comments on why it’s using Pokemon and other big games to promote its activities
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has recently addressed why it has been using popular gaming franchises like Pokémon to promote its activities.
Last month, the DHS released a video featuring the theme song from the Pokémon anime, along with interstitial clips from the show and mock-ups of trading cards depicting some ICE arrests. This creative approach sparked discussions online and prompted a response from The Pokémon Company, which clarified that it was not involved in or endorsing the campaign.
While Pokémon initially took center stage in these discussions, the DHS has since shifted its focus—at least temporarily—to another major franchise. This week, Halo was highlighted in a promotional social media post.
Journalist Alyssa Mercante reached out to the DHS for comment and received the following statement:
> “We will reach people where they are with content they can relate to and understand, whether that be Halo, Pokémon, Lord of The Rings, or any other medium. DHS remains laser focused on bringing awareness to the flood of crime that criminal illegal aliens have inflicted on our country. We aren’t slowing down.”
