Newsom’s prostitution law creates disturbing new sex market in LA
California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom’s “pimp shield” law, championed by Democratic legislator Rep. Scott Wiener, has reportedly contributed to the emergence of a disturbing new sex market on Figueroa Street in Los Angeles. This area now features prostitutes as young as 12 and 13 years old.
For far too long, this phenomenon—often referred to as the “kiddie stroll”—has gone largely unreported. Major media outlets have reportedly avoided covering the story, allowing the troubling situation to persist under the oversight of Democratic politicians.
It is time to shine a light on this dark reality and expose what is happening to these vulnerable young girls, as well as investigate why decisive action has yet to be taken to end this harrowing issue.
Recently, an article in The New York Times Magazine has covered this horrific scene in Los Angeles. However, the piece notably omits any discussion of the prostitution law enacted under Governor Newsom’s administration.
