Dr. Haris Chirackal, head of the Urology Department at Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, has raised concerns over the portrayal of organ transplantation in Mohanlal’s latest film, *Hridayapoorvam*.
**Concerns About Post-Transplant Care**
Dr. Chirackal criticized the film for trivializing the seriousness of organ transplant care. He pointed out that the movie does not accurately depict the precautions and care that transplant recipients must follow. “Everything is just a joke,” he wrote, emphasizing that comedy has no place when discussing such sensitive medical conditions.
He stressed the importance of post-transplant care, noting that the risk of the body rejecting the new organ is ever-present. Patients who have undergone transplantation are particularly vulnerable to infections from both people and animals. According to Dr. Chirackal, activities like accidents or fights should be strictly avoided to protect the transplanted organ.
**Misrepresentation of the Heart**
The doctor also took issue with the film’s depiction of the heart, highlighting that it is simply an organ responsible for pumping blood — it does not possess feelings as portrayed in the movie. He expressed concerns over how such scientific inaccuracies could mislead audiences and harm the credibility of both medical science and cinema.
**Clarification on Criticism**
Despite his criticisms, Dr. Chirackal clarified that he did not intend to disparage the film as a whole. “The movie is good. I pointed out only one disagreement in its content. That’s all,” he stated.
