Renowned doctor Dr. Haris Chirackal, head of the urology department at Government Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram, has expressed his concerns regarding Mohanlal’s latest film *Hridayapoorvam*, particularly criticizing its portrayal of organ transplantation.
**Concerns Over Post-Transplant Care**
Dr. Chirackal highlighted the importance of post-transplant care, emphasizing that patients who have undergone organ transplants need to take stringent precautions to prevent complications. He pointed out that the film trivializes this critical aspect, stating, “The picture does not show the care that the person who had the organ transplant should take. Everything is just a joke.”
The doctor further explained that post-transplant patients are highly vulnerable to infections transmitted from people and animals. He stressed, “Comedy has no place here,” and noted that such patients should avoid risky situations like accidents and fights to protect their health and transplanted organs.
**Criticism of the Film’s Portrayal of the Heart**
Dr. Chirackal also took issue with the way the film depicted the heart, criticizing it for attributing emotions to an organ whose primary function is to pump blood. He remarked, “The scientific awareness of the people and the credibility of cinema is lost by making even science twisted, broken and distorted.”
Despite these criticisms, he clarified his stance by stating, “I am not saying bad things about the movie. The movie is good. I pointed out only one disagreement in its content. That’s all.”
