**Michael Waldron Explains Why Chad Powers Has a Short Six-Episode First Season**

Michael Waldron, writer and showrunner, recently addressed questions about *Chad Powers*’ first season during a Reddit AMA, offering insight into the creative decisions that shaped the show’s six-episode format. He emphasized that the approach was intentional and closely aligned with the overall vision for the series.

When asked about the short episode count, Waldron explained, “Short season was partly due to everyone’s busy schedules, partly due to me just liking short orders. We did 6 with *LOKI* too and I liked how it forces you to not tread water with any episodes, and really accelerate your story.” He added that he enjoys fast-paced storytelling, even citing *Eastbound & Down*’s six-episode first season as an inspiration.

In a separate interview with *The Hollywood Reporter*, Waldron confirmed that the six-episode structure was always part of the plan. “It stopped where I would have wanted to stop it,” he said, noting that the show couldn’t sustain a longer run because the main character’s football eligibility would eventually expire. He described six episodes as feeling “like an event” that allowed for a tighter, more focused narrative.

Waldron also clarified that Glen Powell’s filming schedule influenced the decision but was not the only factor. “When you’ve got Glen Powell on television, it makes you accelerate your storytelling. You never tread water,” he said. He revealed that key plot developments—such as Coach Ricky discovering Chad’s secret—were intentionally brought forward to keep momentum high throughout the season.

During the AMA, the showrunner also confirmed plans for potential future seasons. “Three seasons is our ideal number. Take *Chad Powers* through this full football season,” he explained. Elsewhere, he compared the show’s structure to *Breaking Bad*, hinting that upcoming chapters could explore darker themes as the protagonist’s success attracts greater threats.

*Chad Powers* Season 1, starring Glen Powell, is now streaming on Hulu.
