This week, Qualcomm made a major announcement about its upcoming AI products aimed at competing more directly with industry leaders like AMD, NVIDIA, and other AI-focused technology companies.

The company revealed its new AI200 and AI250 accelerator chips and racks, designed to deliver a significant boost in computing power. These products are expected to be available to customers in 2026 (AI200) and 2027 (AI250), marking a new era for Qualcomm’s AI hardware offerings.

According to Qualcomm’s press release, the AI200 and AI250 chip stacks and racks represent an upgraded scale of AI computing power. The AI200 will be the first offering in this new generation, launching in 2026. The AI250, set for release in 2027, aims to build upon the AI200’s capabilities by achieving a major leap in computational capacity and efficiency.

Qualcomm is primarily known for its mobile chips and system-on-chip (SoC) solutions, which power a wide range of electronic devices including smartphones, VR headsets, and laptops. Notably, Qualcomm’s chips are used in hardware like the Meta Quest 3 VR headset.

Beyond mobile and consumer electronics, Qualcomm is also involved in other innovative projects, such as its recent partnership with BMW to develop a new automated driving system.

With these new AI-focused products, Qualcomm is positioning itself to be a stronger competitor in the fast-evolving AI hardware market.
