5 Things to Watch in College Football Week 10
College football is back in full swing, and each week brings plenty of excitement and key matchups to watch. As we head into Week 10, here are five games and storylines that should be on every fan’s radar.

### 1. Vanderbilt at Texas
Vanderbilt pulled off a tough win over Missouri in Week 9 and now faces another daunting test on the road against Texas. The Commodores have been impressive offensively this season, averaging 38 points per game. They run the ball effectively and boast a solid defense that allows only 18.8 points per game.
This game is crucial for Vanderbilt’s College Football Playoff (CFP) aspirations. A win here would likely mean they need just a 2-1 record over their remaining games to stay in the playoff hunt.
Texas, meanwhile, carries two losses — though it may feel like more given some tough outings. They are coming off a thrilling comeback victory on the road against Mississippi State. Both their offense and defense have been inconsistent this season. Still, the Longhorns remain alive in the CFP race, and a strong showing in this game could set up some marquee matchups down the stretch.

### 2. Oklahoma vs. Tennessee: Elimination Game
This weekend’s matchup between Oklahoma and Tennessee feels like a virtual elimination game for both teams.
The Sooners sit at 6-2 after losses to Ole Miss and Texas. While it’s a steep climb, there is still a faint possibility they could make the CFP as a three-loss team — contingent on other results going their way. Oklahoma’s defense bounced back well after their slip-up against Ole Miss but will face a stiff challenge containing Tennessee’s potent offense.
The Volunteers have also lost two games, both to elite opponents Georgia and Alabama. Tennessee scores a hefty 45.6 points per game and ranks third nationally in passing offense. However, their defense has struggled, giving up 30.9 points per game.
A win in this matchup would position Tennessee favorably for the rest of the season, but it won’t be easy against a determined Oklahoma squad.

### 3. Big 12 Battle: Cincinnati at Utah
In an important Big 12 showdown, Cincinnati travels to face Utah in a game that could heavily influence the conference championship race.
The Bearcats have had a strong season, dropping only their opener to Nebraska before winning seven straight games. Quarterback Brendan Sorsby has emerged as a Heisman Trophy candidate, boasting an impressive 20-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Cincinnati’s offense scores 38.3 points per game, while their defense holds opponents to just 19 points on average.
Utah comes in with two losses in conference play to Texas Tech and Arizona State. A win here, combined with some help, could punch their ticket to the Big 12 Championship Game. The Utes rank 11th nationally in scoring and 9th on defense, but their offense has struggled in losses. They’ll need a clean performance to topple Cincinnati and shake up the Big 12 standings.

### 4. World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party: Georgia vs. Florida
The yearly spectacle known as the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party features two very different storylines this year: a CFP-contending Georgia squad versus a Florida team led by an interim coach.
Georgia is 6-1 and coming off a bye week. The Bulldogs’ offense has been strong, thanks in part to Gunner Stockton’s improved aerial attack. Their defense gives up just 19.6 points per game, though they have shown some vulnerabilities not typical of past Georgia teams.
Florida enters this rivalry game with Billy Gonzales serving as interim head coach after Billy Napier was fired following their last outing. The Gators’ offense has struggled, averaging only 22.4 points per game despite their talent. This put extra pressure on a defense that has performed respectably, allowing 20 points per game.
While Georgia should be favored, rivalries are unpredictable — especially with a coaching change on Florida’s side. The Gators have the potential to keep this game competitive.

### 5. Navy at North Texas
The American Athletic Conference race is tight this season, with five teams sporting one or two losses eyeing the conference championship. This week, two of those teams collide as Navy visits North Texas.
The Midshipmen remain undefeated, powered by the nation’s top rushing offense, averaging 318.1 yards per game, and scoring 37.3 points on average. Their defense allows 23 points per game but has shown some recent struggles.
North Texas has just one loss (to USF) and is very much alive in the AAC title hunt. They boast the best scoring offense in the country at 46.1 points per game, led by quarterback Drew Mestemaker, who engineers a 317.6-yard-per-game passing attack. Their defense gives up 25 points per game.
This promises to be a compelling battle as both teams seek clarity in the conference standings.
