TAMPA, FLA. (WSVN) – A four-legged Florida star has been making rounds on social media thanks to her picture-perfect smile. Bella, a 14-year-old Dachshund from Tampa, has a unique mouth slant that gives her the appearance of a little grin.

“Are you happy every morning when you wake up because you see this?” a reporter asked during a Zoom conversation.

“I am, yeah, I really am,” replied Bella’s owner, Melanie Savage. “For as long as I can remember, she’s had this little smirk.”

While the exact cause of Bella’s smirk is unknown, Savage and her family believe it might be related to a missing tooth in a very specific spot.

“See, there’s no tooth on this side up top, and that’s where her lip is always sitting,” Savage explained.

Interestingly, as Bella has aged and lost more teeth in her golden years, her smile has only seemed to grow bigger. It’s in the last two years that she’s found fame on social media.

Bella’s charming smirk has attracted millions of views online. One commenter wrote, “OK, well this is the cutest Dachshund I’ve ever seen (P.S. don’t tell my Dachshund).”

“Did you think her smile was that unique?” the reporter asked.

“I really didn’t, no, I didn’t. I mean, I loved it, but I didn’t think it was that quirky and unique to where everyone would be interested in it,” Savage said.

Despite Bella’s age, she still enjoys splashing around at the beach and being pushed around in her stroller.

“Every time I look at her face, I’m like, you can’t be real, you’re a stuffed animal,” Savage said. “Her face is basically just three black dots — her eyes, her nose, and then her little smirk. It’s the funniest thing.”
