MANILA, Philippines – Meralco averted another potential collapse and secured a 105-96 victory over Blackwater on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Chris Newsome led the charge with 22 points, while four other players also reached double figures.

The win allowed the Bolts to finally break into the win column after suffering back-to-back defeats to start the PBA Philippine Cup season-opening conference.
