Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube has been ruled out of Mumbai’s first Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled to begin on Wednesday in Srinagar, due to back stiffness.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Dube traveled with the team initially but returned to Mumbai after experiencing discomfort. The cold weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir reportedly aggravated his back stiffness, prompting the decision to rest.

A source from the Mumbai Cricket Association informed *The Indian Express* that the team’s medical staff advised Dube to rest. He returned to Mumbai on Tuesday night and the team is optimistic about his recovery.

Despite missing the Ranji opener, Dube is hopeful to be fit in time for India’s upcoming T20 series against Australia, which kicks off on October 23. His presence in the squad is considered vital given his all-round skills.
