Jio Payments Bank Limited (JPBL) has secured a contract to deploy its innovative automatic FASTag recognition-based toll collection system on the Gurugram-Jaipur highway. The project will be implemented at two toll plazas: Shahjahanpur and Manoharpura.

The advanced electronic toll collection technology accurately identifies, classifies, and charges vehicles without requiring them to slow down or stop at designated lanes, promising a faster and more convenient travel experience.

### Tech Integration: Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) System

The MLFF (multi-lane free flow) toll collection system integrates several cutting-edge technologies such as Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID), Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), Dedicated Short-Range Communication (DSRC), and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). This combination ensures smooth, contactless tolling operations across multiple lanes, eliminating congestion and enhancing commuter convenience by removing the need to stop at toll booths.

### Project Involvement and Background

The contract was awarded by Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL) as part of India’s pilot MLFF project, an initiative designed to facilitate seamless vehicular movement on national highways. So far, five MLFF contracts have been granted, with Jio Payments Bank winning two of them, highlighting its prominence and competitiveness in this space.

### Jio Payments Bank’s Current Toll Operations

JPBL already manages toll operations at 11 plazas across various highway stretches in India as an acquirer bank. The company views this new contract as a significant step in shaping the country’s infrastructure-linked digital payments ecosystem.

“With the acquisition of toll management rights at these two MLFF road projects, JPBL is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in the country’s evolving infrastructure-linked digital payments landscape,” the company stated.

### CEO Statement

Easwaran Vinod, Managing Director & CEO of Jio Payments Bank, remarked that the company’s entry into the tolling ecosystem is a natural extension of its mission to digitize everyday payments.

“This milestone reflects our commitment to delivering seamless, citizen-centric financial services and driving access, efficiency, and inclusion across the country,” he added.

The project is expected to build capabilities that will support participation in India’s evolving mobility ecosystem, paving the way for more advanced and efficient transport infrastructure.
