Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: CM Nitish Kumar & Union Minister Chirag Paswan Hold Separate Meetings Amid Seat-Sharing Talks

Patna: As the assembly election process in Bihar formally kicks off with the issuance of the notification for the first phase on Friday, key political players are engaging in crucial discussions over seat sharing and election strategies.
Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar convened a meeting of senior JD(U) leaders at his official residence, 1 Anne Marg, with the aim of finalizing the list of candidates for the upcoming polls.
Simultaneously, Union Minister and LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan called an emergency meeting of his party’s core team at the state office to deliberate on seat distribution and election preparedness. Although Chirag Paswan was not present at the meeting, having left for New Delhi, LJP (RV) MP from Jamui, Arun Bharti, represented the party in the seat-sharing discussions.
Sources revealed that Chirag Paswan is demanding 36 seats for his party, while the BJP is reportedly willing to allocate only 22 seats. Before departing for New Delhi, Chirag stated that the party’s election strategies would be discussed during the meeting, with a final decision to be made following the central parliamentary board meeting.
On the other hand, JD(U) has taken a firm stance on retaining several constituencies currently held by its sitting MLAs. Chirag Paswan’s LJP reportedly seeks to contest in seats such as Manhar, Matihani, and Chakai, which are presently represented by JD(U) legislators, adding complexity to the ongoing seat-sharing negotiations.
Meanwhile, amidst these talks, HAM leader BK Singh has announced his intention to file his nomination from the Morwa assembly constituency in Samastipur on October 13. Singh claims the support of party national president Santosh Manjhi.
In a separate development, BK Singh made serious allegations against former JD(U) legislator Vidyasagar Singh Nishad, accusing him of amassing disproportionate assets.
As the election countdown begins, these developments highlight the intense political maneuvering underway in Bihar ahead of the polls.
