IPOPHL asks ISPs to block streaming sites for ‘piracy’

MANILA, Philippines – The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) has called on internet service providers (ISPs) to block more than 10 websites allegedly involved in the illegal streaming of Filipino films.
This move comes in response to complaints filed by entertainment company Viva Communications Inc. and its streaming platform, Vivamax.
The initial request from IPOPHL sought the blocking of 13 websites that purportedly offer unauthorized access to Viva’s content, aiming to protect the rights of Filipino filmmakers and content creators.
