**Mumbai: BMC Postpones Final Phase of Electrical Meter Upgradation at Water Treatment Plants Due to MSEDCL Strike**

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had initiated the upgradation of electrical meters at the Pise and Panjrapur water treatment plants on Monday. This work led to a 10% water cut in certain parts of Mumbai city and the eastern suburbs.

However, the final phase of the upgradation, originally scheduled for Thursday, October 9, has been postponed. The delay is due to a strike called by employees of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). Consequently, the civic body has also deferred the planned water cuts originally announced for Thursday.

### Significance of the Water Treatment Plants

The Pise and Panjrapur water treatment plants are among the largest suppliers of potable water to Mumbai. Their uninterrupted operation is critical to the city’s overall water distribution system. The BMC successfully completed the upgradation of electrical meters at the 100 kV substations of both plants on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Despite this progress, the final phase of the work—estimated to take about two hours—could not be carried out due to the ongoing MSEDCL strike, a civic official confirmed.

### Cancelled Water Cuts Across Wards

As a result of the postponement, the previously announced 10% water cut affecting several wards has been cancelled. These wards include:

– **City Area:**
– A Ward (Fort, Churchgate)
– B Ward (Dongri)
– F South Ward (Parel)
– F North Ward (Wadala)

– **Eastern Suburbs:**
– M East Ward (Deonar)
– M West Ward (Chembur)

Additionally, proposed water cuts in the following wards have also been withdrawn:

– L Ward (Kurla East)
– N Ward (Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, and Ghatkopar East)
– S Ward (Bhandup, Nahur, Kanjurmarg, and Vikhroli East)
– T Ward (Mulund East and West)

An official assured that regular water supply will be maintained across all these areas until further notice.
