**“Healthy Women, Empowered Families” Campaign Receives Enthusiastic Response in Maharashtra**

The “Healthy Women, Empowered Families” campaign, conducted across Maharashtra from September 17 to October 2, 2025, garnered an overwhelming response from citizens throughout the state. Focusing on women’s health, child welfare, and overall family well-being, the initiative made significant strides in promoting preventive healthcare and empowerment.

**Extensive Reach with Over 2.3 Lakh Camps**

During the campaign period, a total of 2,30,653 health camps were organized statewide, including 3,413 special camps. These efforts reached over 1.08 crore beneficiaries, comprising 32.71 lakh men and 75.87 lakh women. The campaign was part of a national initiative inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Seva Hach Sankalp, Bharat Hech Pehla Prerna – 75 Years” programme, emphasizing preventive healthcare and women’s empowerment.

**Comprehensive Healthcare Services Across Rural and Urban Areas**

Healthcare services were provided at multiple levels, including district hospitals, sub-district hospitals, primary health centers, and urban health centers. Camps offered a wide range of screenings and interventions such as:
– Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) screening for high blood pressure and diabetes
– Cancer detection including oral, breast, and cervical cancers
– Maternal health checkups
– Child immunization
– Nutritional guidance
– Menstrual hygiene awareness

Specialized activities included blood donation drives, distribution of Ayushman Bharat cards, facilitation of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana scheme, and nutrition awareness programs through Anganwadi centers.

**Record-Breaking Health Screenings**

The campaign recorded remarkable achievements in health screenings:
– Approximately 14.41 lakh individuals were tested for blood pressure
– Around 14.98 lakh for diabetes
– Over 9.79 lakh benefitted from cancer screenings
Additionally, 4.63 lakh beneficiaries accessed services through central government facilities, medical colleges, and private institutions across 1,860 camps.

**Maternal and Child Health Services Impact**

Reproductive and child health interventions benefited 4.38 lakh pregnant women, while 1.88 lakh children received immunizations. Screening for anemia covered about 10.16 lakh individuals. Tuberculosis (TB) screening touched over 13.13 lakh citizens, leading to the registration of 15,027 TB helpers. Furthermore, 3.77 lakh people were screened for sickle cell disease, with 1.83 lakh receiving sickle cell cards.

**Strengthening Mental Health and Community Awareness**

The campaign placed strong emphasis on mental health and women’s empowerment, providing counseling and awareness programs to more than 65 lakh people through schools and community centers. These efforts played a key role in promoting health consciousness among students and families alike.

**Promoting Health Pledges and Organ Donation**

As part of the initiative’s outreach, 7.02 lakh Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries received health cards, and 15.01 lakh citizens obtained ABHA cards. Blood donation camps collected 51,339 units of blood from 1,969 drives. Significantly, 4,765 citizens pledged organ donation, marking a milestone in public health awareness.

**Massive Participation Across Health Institutions**

The campaign’s success was driven by the collaborative efforts of a wide network of health institutions, including:
– 10,766 sub-centers
– 1,939 primary health centers
– 797 urban PHCs
– 1,040 urban community health centers
– 372 rural hospitals
– 102 sub-district hospitals
– 8 general hospitals
– 22 women’s hospitals
– 2 referral hospitals
– 19 district hospitals

Doctors, nurses, government officials, Asha workers, and Anganwadi workers played vital roles in the smooth execution of the campaign.

**Officials Laud the Campaign’s Impact**

Officials highlighted that the campaign went beyond routine medical checkups. It aimed to raise health awareness and empower women to make informed decisions about their health. This initiative marks a significant stride toward building a healthier and more aware Maharashtra.
