Madhya Pradesh Among 4 States To Get Multi-Tracking Railway Projects

**Union Cabinet Approves Four Railway Multi-Tracking Projects, Including Major Expansion in Madhya Pradesh**
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Union Cabinet has approved four railway multi-tracking projects across four states, including Madhya Pradesh. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gave the green light to these projects during a meeting held in New Delhi on Tuesday.
One of the key approvals includes the addition of a 237 km fourth railway line between Itarsi, Bhopal, and Bina in Madhya Pradesh. This significant expansion is set to enhance rail connectivity to several prominent sites within the state, such as Sanchi, the Satpura Tiger Reserve, Bhimbetka rock shelters—known for their prehistoric human remains and ancient rock art—Hajra Waterfall, and Navegaon National Park.
The upgraded route will also facilitate the transportation of essential commodities like coal, cement, containers, fly ash, food grains, and steel, thereby boosting the region’s logistics capabilities.
These projects have been formulated under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, which aims to promote multi-modal connectivity and improve logistics efficiency through integrated planning and active stakeholder consultation. The initiative is designed to provide seamless connectivity for citizens, goods, and services alike.
In addition to benefiting major tourist and ecological sites, the approved multi-tracking projects will significantly improve connectivity in Vidisha district.
Commenting on the development, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that the expansion of the railway line would increase mobility, operational efficiency, and the overall reliability of the rail network. He emphasized that multi-tracking—adding more railway tracks—will ease train operations and provide substantial benefits to passengers.
Chief Minister Yadav also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting and approving these crucial infrastructure projects that are expected to accelerate growth and connectivity in the region.
