MANILA, Philippines — Inflation rose to a six-month high of 1.7 percent in September, slightly quicker than August’s 1.5 percent, driven by higher transport and food costs, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Tuesday.

However, the latest inflation rate was better than the 2-percent median estimate of 14 economists polled by the Inquirer last week.
