Pakistan women’s cricket player Sidra Amin has been formally reprimanded for breaching the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct during a recent match against India in Colombo.
According to an official ICC statement, Amin violated Article 2.2, which relates to the “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”
### Incident Details
The incident occurred when Amin, after being dismissed in the 40th over, slammed her bat on the pitch. Amin admitted to the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Shandre Fritz.
As this was her first offense within a 24-month period, Amin was handed one demerit point for a Level 1 breach, thus avoiding a formal hearing process.
### Official Charges
The charges against Sidra Amin were brought forward by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera, third umpire Kerrin Klaaste, and fourth umpire Kim Cotton.
For Level 1 offenses, penalties can include an official reprimand or a fine of up to 50% of the player’s match fee. In Amin’s case, accepting the proposed punishment allowed her to avoid further disciplinary action.
### Match Outcome
Despite Amin’s valiant effort, scoring a top score of 81 runs off 106 balls, Pakistan was bowled out for 159 while chasing India’s target of 248. This defeat marks Pakistan’s second loss in the ongoing World Cup tournament, following an earlier loss to Bangladesh.
Pakistan will next face Australia on Wednesday as they look to bounce back in the competition.
