**Mannara Chopra to Make Tamil Debut with ‘Highlights’**

Bollywood actor Mannara Chopra, who is also the cousin of Priyanka Chopra Jonas, is set to make her Tamil cinema debut as the female lead in the upcoming film *Highlights*. The movie is a fantasy thriller that aims to showcase the rich history and culture of the Badaga community from The Nilgiris.

Although Mannara had a cameo appearance in a song for the Tamil film *Kaaval* (2015), *Highlights* will mark her first full-fledged role in Tamil cinema.

**About the Film**

*Highlights* features Vijay Sathya in the lead role and incorporates a historical connection with a flashback portion set in pre-independence India. Sathya, who hails from the Badaga community, shared his motivation behind the film:

*”I’m a Badaga and wanted to make a film that will highlight the heritage of this community of people who are indigenous to The Nilgiris.”*

**Production Details**

The shooting for *Highlights* is expected to begin by the end of October or the first week of November in Ooty. The makers plan to present the movie as a pan-Indian project, which influenced their casting choices.

Vijay Sathya revealed that Mannara Chopra was chosen for the female lead because she is widely recognized across India.

*”Since we are planning to make this a pan-Indian project, we needed an actor who will be recognized across India,”* he explained.

In addition to her popularity, Chopra’s performance during a look test wearing traditional Badaga costume played a significant role in the casting decision. Sathya added,

*”She also looked convincing when we did a look test with her in the Badaga costume.”*
