SpaceX has reached another impressive milestone by launching its Falcon 9 rocket for the 125th time this year. The latest mission took off from California’s Vandenberg Space Force Base yesterday at 10:06 AM EDT (7:36 PM IST).

The Falcon 9 carried a payload of 28 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit (LEO), marking a significant step in SpaceX’s ongoing efforts to expand its satellite internet constellation.

### Successful Booster Landing

The first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket made a successful return to Earth, landing precisely on SpaceX’s droneship, *Of Course I Still Love You*, located in the Pacific Ocean. This booster, designated B1097, completed its second flight and landing—both missions carrying Starlink satellites, according to SpaceX’s mission description.

### Expanding the Starlink Constellation

Starlink continues to dominate Falcon 9 launches in 2025, with over 70% of flights dedicated to building the largest satellite constellation ever assembled. Currently, more than 8,500 active Starlink satellites orbit the Earth.

To put this into perspective, the European Space Agency reports that there are roughly 12,500 operational satellites of any kind in orbit today. This means that two out of every three functioning satellites in space belong to the Starlink constellation—a proportion that is only expected to increase further.

SpaceX’s relentless cadence of launches and booster reusability showcase its commitment to revolutionizing global connectivity through satellite internet.
