**Dear Sun Spots,**

This came across my Facebook page today, and I know you are a supporter of Kaydenz Kitchen, as are many Sun Spots readers. I wanted to share this so others who aren’t on social media can read it.

I’m really happy for these folks who have worked so hard to make Lewiston-Auburn (L-A) a better place.

### It’s Official!

**Passion. Persistence. Perseverance.** These aren’t just words — they’re the driving force behind Androscoggin County’s first-ever 24/7 low-barrier homeless shelter!

Today, we officially closed on the property and have the keys in hand! What started years ago as a dream has now become a reality thanks to the relentless dedication of our team.

But this is only the beginning. Now we need *you*!

– Volunteer.
– Donate.
– Share our mission.
– Join us at fundraising events.
– Check out our Amazon Wishlist.

Every action, big or small, helps transform lives.

Lewiston-Auburn has struggled for years with the growing challenge of chronic homelessness. Together, we’re putting our best foot forward to create a community where people not only find safety and shelter but also the resources to rebuild and thrive.

This is more than a shelter — it’s hope, it’s opportunity, it’s the future.

— Lara, No Town

### How to Support Kaydenz Kitchen

To reach the staff at Kaydenz Kitchen, send them a private Facebook message or call 577-7942. The nonprofit is open:

– Tuesdays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
– Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

**Please do not leave donations after hours.** There have been reports that some donors are leaving items outside the building when the organization is closed, and that is not okay. Please be respectful to these people who have worked so hard to make their dream a reality as they continue to help those who are without shelter and all others in need.

**Dear Sun Spots,**

In late summer, a reader asked about activities to do this coming fall in the area. This person came to mind when I saw an ad for the Makers Market at the Farmington Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 4.

She and her family mustn’t miss out on this wonderful event! It runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers over 50 vendors, food trucks, and live music.

— Sandy, Lewiston

### Makers Market Details

The event is held in the Starbird Building at the Farmington Fairgrounds. The street address is 292 High St., Farmington — for those unfamiliar with the area.

I’ve attended some of these Makers Markets and am so impressed by what’s on offer.

Farmington is gorgeous in the fall, and it’s supposed to be a beautiful weekend — so go enjoy the market, the scenery, and the sunshine!
