**Overview**

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has confirmed that it will onboard approximately 650 lateral hires after a delay of nearly three months, as reported by The Times of India. Onboarding emails have already been sent out to candidates, with some receiving joining dates scheduled for October. However, the final onboarding remains contingent upon successful completion of background verification checks.

**Company’s Commitment to Job Offers**

A TCS spokesperson reaffirmed the company’s commitment to honoring all job offers extended, whether to freshers or experienced professionals. “We look forward to them joining and being a part of TCS,” the spokesperson said in an interview with TOI.

The onboarding delay had caused concern among candidates as well as industry observers, but TCS has assured that all offers will be upheld.

**New Bench Policy and Workforce Updates**

TCS has recently implemented a new bench policy that permits a maximum of 35 days per year without a project allocation. The company aims to have each employee achieve 225 billed business days annually.

This policy change and related workforce developments have attracted attention from the Central government’s labor and employment ministry, along with Karnataka’s labor department.

**Employee Headcount and Salary Increments**

As of June 2025, TCS’s workforce comprised over 600,000 employees. The company has rolled out its annual salary revisions effective September 1, with increments averaging between 4.5% and 7% for most employees.

The salary hikes apply to staff up to the grade of C3A or equivalent levels. However, senior employees at higher grades—C3B, C4, and C5—were not included in this round of increments.

TCS continues to strengthen its workforce while navigating policy updates and market dynamics, ensuring its commitment to employees and candidates remains a priority.
