350-Powered 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais Coupe at No Reserve

admin By admin 2025 年 10 月 21 日

This 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais is a striking black-over-red coupe, originally ordered new with removable glass T-top roof panels. The seller acquired the vehicle in 2024 from its previous owner, who had it for nearly 30 years.

Under previous ownership, a 350ci V8 engine was installed, replacing the factory 305ci V8. This engine is paired with a rebuilt three-speed automatic transmission. The car features tubular headers, a dual exhaust system, and a Holley carburetor with an open-element air cleaner. Aftermarket valve covers add to the performance look.

Visually, the Cutlass Calais is finished in black with authentic Calais badging. It retains factory-installed removable glass T-tops, complemented by chrome bumpers, bright lower trim, wheel arch moldings, dual side mirrors, and intermittent windshield wipers. The car rides on chrome-clad Super Stock III 14″ steel wheels wrapped in 225/70 Mastercraft Avenger G/T raised-white-letter tires.

Mechanically, the car benefits from power steering and power-assisted front disc brakes with red-painted rear drums. The left rear axle seal was replaced recently in May 2024. Despite some noted corrosion on the underside, the vehicle has been maintained with care. Recent maintenance in May 2024 included fixing leaks, replacing radiator hoses (upper and lower), a fuel line, and spark plugs—with insulating boots added. Additionally, the three-speed automatic transmission was overhauled in July 2025, with the receipt available in the gallery.

Inside, the interior features red cloth upholstery covering the front bucket seats and rear bench seating. The factory center console is complemented by woodgrain trim and a Hurst shifter. The factory Delco AM/FM radio is still present. Some modifications include padded and stitched vinyl interior trim, although loose stitching is visible on one corner seam.

Comfort amenities such as heat and air conditioning are non-functional, and the underhood air conditioning components have been removed. The two-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a tilting column and frames an 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and factory-optioned auxiliary gauges. Additional aftermarket gauges are mounted on the steering column. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 71,000 miles, with only around 300 miles added under the current ownership.

Overall, this 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais is offered at no reserve and includes a copy of the original build sheet, manufacturer’s literature, spare parts, and a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name.

Please note, one front light is out, a scratch is visible on the front left fender, and other blemishes can be seen in the accompanying gallery photos. This is a well-documented classic car ready for its next chapter.
